redskincircusHas there ever been an NFL franchise that crumbles and buckles under the pressure that the media puts on them as much as the Washington Redskins?

Is this a joke?

Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato have officially clawed their way to the top of the worst-franchise-in-football list, barely beating out Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders.

At least the Raiders have a quality win under their belt after they beat the Eagles in week six. The Raiders aren't supposed to be good. And by that, I mean they didn't go out and spend millions of dollars on a couple free agents like it was fantasy football (instead they cut a legitimate quarterback named Jeff Garcia). The Redskins have made bad move after bad move and Snyder and Cerrato have completely baffled everyone and anyone who is paying attention.

How Cerrato and Snyder are handing the drama and the media is absolutely laughable (and pathetic). After the intense media criticism of Jim Zorn, Snyder's decision to hire him and finally Snyder's revelation that Zorn is just not the right man for the job... Cerrato announced that Zorn will REMAIN the head coach for the rest of the season. Um... what?

First, they tried to save some money (like they really need money...) by trying to coerce Jim Zorn to resign after taking away the play-calling duties from him. They didn't want to fire him since he had another year on his contact. After that terrible strategy didn't work out, Cerrato gives the play-calling duties to Sherman Lewis, who was hired just two weeks before as an "offensive consultant."

This is where it gets laughable. Not only has Lewis been out of football for about five years, but he was calling bingo games at a retirement center when Snyder and Cerrato called him. Are you kidding me? This guy is going to make the Redskins better?

Never has there been an organization that can't handle the media like this. Not only can Snyder and Cerrato not handle being criticized, but they just keep making bad decision after another. They already dug a gigantic hole for themselves by hiring someone who has never been a head coach before. Now, they just keep digging themselves into an even deeper hole that looks almost impossible to get out of.

How can you expect a guy who was helping out at a retirement home to just pack his bags, come to Washington D.C and start calling the plays for the Redskins against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football... Final Score Eagles (27) - Redskins (17).  Did Snyder and Cerrato think that the Redskins were going to throw up a 40 spot last night?

Move over Al Davis. Dan Snyder has taken over as the laughing stock of the NFL. - Michael Klopman
