The Doctor is in...
Question #1: As soon as L. Washington went down my husband ran to the computer put in a bid for Shonne Greene. Should we start him? How many touches do you think he will get? - Cindy, Warwick, RI
Cindy: Great show of quickness by your husband. (Hope he is not that quick all the time ;) You guys can't start him yet, as he will probably get 10-15 carries a game. If we see the tide turning his way in another month where he gets the bulk of the carries, he will be a sure-fire starter (and fantasy stud).
Question #2: Would you trade Calvin Johnson to get Sidney Rice? I don't know if I should click yes or no? - Marissa, Cleveland Heights, OH
Marissa: You want to trade Mega-Tron for the second WR on the Vikings? Please don't click that button. When healthy, Johnson is a superstar. Rice has been great thus far, but Dr. Roto needs to see more before he is a firm believer (although I am getting there quickly).
Question #3: I'm pretty new to this. How did Vince Young do from a fantasy perspective when he was getting regular starts? He's gonna play at some point and I'm wondering if I should pick him up? - Janice, Duluth, MN
Janice: Back in the days before his depression, VY was an average fantasy QB. His passing numbers were weak, but he did make up for it with 500 YDs rushing and 3-7 TD. This is fun to watch, but not fun to own on your fantasy roster. The weeks that VY does not run one in are tough to watch. Feel free to put him on your team, but please don't count on anything from him.
Question #4: Do you think Alex Smith will end up fulfilling his 1st round potential? He's only 25. We lucked out with him last week and had him in because one of our starters had a bye. You do a great job, keep up the great work. We love reading your thoughts. - Beth, Bragg City, MO
Beth: Thanks for the kind words. Dr. Roto loves dispensing roto advice to his fans. BTW did you catch my article on www.roto-rx.comlast week with my sleepers of the week? Gave everyone out there Mike Wallace who had a big day. Speaking of sleepers, I am impressed with YOU! How did you ever have Alex Smith in your lineup? Do you have a secret pipeline into the brain of Mike Singletary which told you that Shaun Hill was going to stink last week?
As for Smith, please hold off your accolades just yet. I think what you saw was more of a horrible Houston secondary (and prevent defense) than Alex Smith fulfilling his potential. That said, Smith seems to have won the job for now and might provide decent QB 2 numbers down the stretch.
Question #5: This is my 1st year doing fantasy. I can see that Wes Welker piles up catches but they are usually short passes. Does he get enough yards and TD's to make him a good fantasy receiver compared to others? - Jesse, Long Beach, CA
Jesse: If you are in a PPR (point per reception league), then Welker is a monster. Even if you are not, he is usually worth 80-100 yds and a TD most weeks. Those numbers plus playing with Tom Brady easily put Welker into the top 15 WR. Dr. Roto has had his eye on Welker from his days at Texas Tech. He is a great player and the Dolphins can't be happy that they gave up on him years ago.
