footballbettingSometimes luck just doesn't go your way. We netted $82.50 last week but saw $325 go out the window in the final seconds with both Cleveland and Cincinnati blowing the games at the end. ‘A POX' on the state of Ohio!

Never the less Add $82.50 to the pot. The Thanksgiving Day games were covered in a previous post, I hope you got the memo. We netted $80 winning with the Packers and the Cowboys and loosing with the Giants (just awful) and Texas who won but didn't cover.

As I had mentioned, Colt McCoy would put up at least 40 points (and he did, rushing for 176 yard and throwing for 302 yards putting up 49 points.) But if you would have told me that the # 3 ranked team in the nation with their #1 number one ranked rushing defense and #1 ranked third down defense would was going to give up 531 yards of offense and 39 points to a .500 team I would have told you that you were crazy. That my friends, was something that not a single person in the country could have honestly say they saw coming. If you think about it, even though they didn't win the game, that may be one of the biggest college football surprises to happen in the last 20 years. I can't begin to tell you how mind boggling and unusual that type of offensive production / defensive lapse between two teams that were so mismatched was.

Ok, enough of my yackin', it's on to business.

For those of you new to what's going on here, each week I pick college and football games using real money and the winnings at the end of the year will go to charity. We started in NFL week 1 with a pot of $1,000 and YTD, after eleven weeks we have now have $2,200.00 in our wagering account, a return so far of 120.00%. Slow and steady is the method here, we don't bet the ranch on anything. If you would like to see the picks from each week you can check out our archives both here and from our old site (see the main menu at the top of the page).

As for the charity, feel free to contact us with your request of where you want it to go. The charity with the most nominations will get the funds. Assuming we have more than $1,000 in winnings (fingers crossed - we are already there, don't want to be giving it back) we'll send 70% to the top nominated charity and 30% to the second most nominated charity. That's plan at the moment, if we hit a home run we can certainly spread the wealth some more.

At the moment here are the leading nominees. We will take nominations until NFL season concludes. It's still early so please vote for the charity of your choice. It doesn't have to be a major charity, just a legit one. So if you have a cause you want to support, speak-up. I'll update the voting each week as we go and we will list any charity getting more than 100 votes.

736 - Jimmy Foundation for Cancer Research
638 - The 911 Fund
382 - Salvation Army
346 - United Way
339 - American Cancer Society
228 - American National Red Cross
41...................... other charities with less than 100 nominations to date

I do in fact do this for a living, so I'd like to think I can spin this thing into some nice donations. Also, I hope some of you have been able to profit from my thoughts. If there is something regarding wagering that you would like me to cover or if you have a question, please feel free to ask.

Remember, we are using a $1,000 betting pot to start out with so we are up 120.00% after 11 NFL weeks (winnings go to charity). Not Bad, next goal, 200%

Results
Week 1 = + $77.50
Week 2 = + $72.50
Week 3 = + $20.00
Week 4 = - $12.00
Week 5 = + $129.50
Week 6 = + $145.00
Week 7 = + $197.50
Week 8 = + $82.50
Week 9 = + $20.00
Week 10 = + $405.00
Week 11 = + $82.50

Total = + $1,200.00 after 11 weeks. Now for this weeks' picks!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!

$75 - Alabama - 10 (-110) Alabama is sniffing a National Title chance here and they need to make an impression. This is a big rivalry, they call it the IRON BOWL and the intensity will be high, but Alabama is just too much for Auburn to handle.

$50 - TCU -39 (-110) This line was -44 earlier in the week, and I'll take those 5 free points. TCU over New Mexico in a romp. Don't be surprised to see TCU throw up 60 on the score board.

$75 - Vikings -9.5 (-110) Jay Cutler will be introduced to Hared Allen this week and he won't get a warm welcome. Some turnovers by Cutler and another solid offensive game by Favre, Peterson & Co and this one should be over early.

$30 - Jets MONEY LINE (-110) I'm going to keep picking them until I get it right. J Somewhere along the line someone will get through to the kid and he'll protect the ball. If he doesn't, he'll be out of the league. I depressed as the Jets are about their lost season, they have a rookie QB and this could have been expected (despite the fact that the coach seems to think he's got a Superbowl team), the Panthers have to be just sick and I think give-up time is near. I Wouldn't be surprised to see Bill Cohwer coaching there next year.

If you haven't voted in our poll on the site yet please do so. We are trying to get a feel for how our readers are looking at the game of NCAA Football so we can write about things they want to hear. The poll question is, "Do you think the NCAA should have a Playoff to determine the National Champion rather than the BCS / Bowl System?" - Please vote.
