Kyle Parker passes up on MLB to Return as Starting Quarterback for Clemson E-mail

kyleparkerIt's a little after midnight on the east coast, when Kyle Parker meets with Dabo Swinney, head coach of the Clemson Tigers. Parker, has been facing the decision to turn pro in baseball, after the Colorado Rockies drafted him with the 26th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2010 MLB Draft or return for his red shirt sophomore season as the starting QB at Clemson.

Kyle became the first athlete in Division 1 history to throw for 20 touchdowns and hit 20 home runs in the same academic school year. As a red shirt freshman he led the Clemson football team to the ACC championship game versus Georgia Tech. They eventually lost that game as he was sacked on 4th down late in the fourth quarter. It was an amazing game that was spotlighted by CJ Spiller's highlight reel performance. Kyle followed up this performance in the fall by leading Clemson's baseball team to the College World Series in the summer. The baseball team lost to in-state rival South Carolina, in back to back games. This eliminated Clemson and sent the Gamecocks onto the championship series versus UCLA, which South Carolina eventually won.

Parker stated that he wouldn't talk about the decision until after Clemson was eliminated from postseason play. So, with Clemson out of the CWS, all the ears of Clemson Tiger fans tuned in for an announcement of Parker's decision. Most people, including myself, figured that Parker would take the $2 to $3 million dollar signing bonus from the Rockies and turn the reins at Clemson over to red shirt freshman Tajh Boyd. Well, it appears that Parker has finally made his decision and let Dabo Swinney know. They are suppose to announce it to Clemson fans and the rest of the public in the morning. But, could it be that CJ Spiller let the cat, or should I say the tiger out of the bag.

Spiller said on his twitter page,

@CJSPILLER "Im glad my boy KP decided to stay another year, now my clemson folks can be at easy and not wry ab the season."

So, it hasn't come out of Parker's mouth to the media and public yet, but it did come from a source that made Parker's first starting season a lot easier. We will find out if CJ is a good inside reporter and bad secret keeper in a few hours. Until then, I figured I would feed those loyal Clemson fans that are typing in search engines every combination of words with Kyle Parker's decision. Eat up and I hope this satisfies your hunger. Now go to sleep, your morning starts early with more search engine hunting. - Jayson Braddock
