Atletico’s Diego Costa Will Undergo Foot Surgery in Brazil

After trying unsuccessfully to submit to a conservative treatment his ailments in the right foot, Diego Costa and the medical services of Atlético de Madrid have decided that the best solution is to go through the operating room.

The player will travel to Brazil this Monday to be intervened in the middle of this week, probably on Wednesday. Costa felt strong discomfort caused by the displacement of a screw that was placed 11 years ago in the fifth metatarsal of the right foot.

Two weeks ago a blow sharpened the pain and was low until it reappeared against Barcelona in the Metropolitan (1-1). In that game, he scored the goal and ended with 18 League games without scoring, but he had to retire to score more goals.

The Lagarto striker did not play the game of the Champions League last Wednesday against Monaco but was lined up this last Sunday in Girona, where he starred in the action that led to the own goal of Girona. Costa finished the duel held in Montilivi limping.

The goal is for the Spanish-Brazilian striker to be back in perfect condition when Atletico faces the last 16 of the Champions League in February.
